Fashion and accessory designer Brandon Blackwood undertook the renovation of his Brooklyn town house with an unusually close project partner: his mother.
She served as contractor for the work, according to a feature by Architectural Digest. The arrangement placed a family member in a central delivery role on the residential project.
Her contribution also extended to a design decision kept from Blackwood during the renovation. She included a skylight as a surprise for her son.
The project illustrates how residential renovations can combine professional execution with personal collaboration, particularly when the owner and contractor share a direct stake in the outcome.
