eXp Realty and HomeServices of America are among the first brokerages to participate in a new membership effort from the Council of Multiple Listing Services, or CMLS, aimed at strengthening broker representation in MLS policy discussions.

The initiative emerged at CMLS's Open House event, where the organization outlined a plan to engage brokerages more directly as MLS operators confront changes in data access, market rules and industry structure. The development was first reported by HousingWire.

A listening process through 2026

CMLS plans to use a listening phase running through 2026 to gather views from participating brokerages. eXp and HomeServices are early adopters of the program, giving the process representation from two significant residential real estate organizations.

For brokers, greater involvement in MLS discussions could create a more formal channel for addressing operational and policy questions that affect listing distribution and market participation. The initiative remains in its engagement stage, with CMLS set to collect feedback before determining its longer-term direction.
