UWM is moving to a dual-score credit model, obtaining both FICO and VantageScore whenever it runs a borrower credit report.

The lender will automatically select the stronger of the two results, a change that could affect how borrowers are evaluated during the mortgage application process.

The approach removes the need to rely on a single credit-score result for each pull. Brokers working with prospective homebuyers will need to account for the lender's use of two scoring systems when reviewing a client's financing profile.

The policy was reported by HousingWire. UWM has not been described in the reported information as changing the underlying requirement to obtain a credit report; the shift concerns which score is used after both are retrieved.
