Maison Estelle, the London-based private members’ club, has leased roughly 30,000 square feet within the Church of the Holy Communion in Manhattan’s Flatiron District.

The property sits at the corner of West 20th Street and Avenue of the Americas. The 19th-century church has been deconsecrated and is widely known as the former location of the Limelight, a nightclub with an outsized and controversial place in New York nightlife history.

The agreement brings a members-only hospitality use to a distinctive historic structure at 656 Avenue of the Americas. The lease was first reported by Commercial Observer.

For the Flatiron District, the deal illustrates the continuing appeal of architecturally distinctive properties for private-club concepts, particularly where an established address and a building’s cultural history can form part of the offering.
